Back to the drawing board

Well. It's been a while since i've updated this blog, and some things have happened mean while. I've been working with a quintet piece for clarinet & string quartet, and had some rehearsals with The Sun Tryst (former Thin Young Men) , and we are getting the concept of the new album together: (also been promoting the older stuff to all kinds of labels in order of putting them out some day). With Markku Lahtelan Sirkus, the new material is being waiting to be actualized, although there are lots of ideas where Mikko & I are considered. For both bands, the summer seems to be an ideal/possible time for recordings, the latter being more impulsive & improvised (following a structure of course), whilst the first one a more strictly in contest of the compositions; both enjoyable procedures.
Also the promo of the doom band Paganus, in which I have the pleasure of playing the drums, will be mixed in near future. More info from the band's myspace page.

(Below a picture from the 4m x 4m room where
MLS 'Vol 1' was recorded)

The mentioned quinted piece is a work where I've put my self in the shoes of a melody-composer, even though I used to loath melodies before and saw them as a worn device: now it seems that I'm trying to find that "something behind" the surface of the phrases and make my point there, looking through the transparent bourgeous type of music, with strange avant-garde goggles. The material is not influenced by serialism this time (not even own inventions of that kind) but is rather a surrealistic fantasia, however put into a strict enough mold of structure. So it is somewhat a chat with the early 1900's, that has to do with speech (loosely representated by "comprehensive" melodies) or a blabbery of non sense, where the message is in the act of speech, rather than in the flawless articulation or retorics.

More later!
